PROJECT HENRY

Project Henry is named after an elder feral cat that came to SVAR's former Animal Medical Center. Click here for Henry's story.

In Henry's memory, SVAR established Project Henry a free spay/neuter program focused on reducing animal populations. Project Henry outsources its spay/neuter surgeries to for-profit surgery centers in an effort to reduce costs and also to insure SVAR's ethics are adhered to (e.g., we do not support the killing of postive FIV cats whereas most clinics automatically euthanaize them). Through partnering with for-profit clinics SVAR has had great success in neutering hundreds companion animals.

SVAR's extensive experience in free spay/neuter programs supports our understanding that the suffering and killing of companion animals will continue unless we neuter animals. Moreover, programs need to be implemented which address fundamental problem areas. Only then will significant shelter killing stop.

Project Henry's limited funding is currently only offered to special TNR projects. If you have a large feral cat colony that needs to be neutered please contact SVAR for more details. If Project Henry is unable to assist you please contact your local animal shelter for free and low cost spay/neuter services.
